The Challenge
A steeply sloping plot made conventional construction expensive and risked blocking the very views that made the site special. Earthworks and drainage had to be handled carefully to keep the hillside stable.
Our Approach
Rather than flatten the slope, we stepped the house down it in three terraces, each anchored on a retaining base and opening west to the valley. Split levels are linked by a daylit internal stair, and green roofs on the lower terraces manage runoff and blend the building into the hillside.
The Outcome
A home that feels carved from its setting — every level has a view, the slope is stable, and the terraced gardens have matured into the landscape. Delivered in 18 months.
