The Challenge
The client had collected several pieces of reclaimed timber over years and wanted an interior that honoured the material without feeling rustic or craft-fair. Every other surface needed to step back and let the wood speak.
Our Approach
Each piece of reclaimed timber was graded and assigned a specific role — structural open shelving in the library, a statement dining table, and horizontal wall battens along the main bedroom. All other surfaces were kept deliberately neutral: fine white plaster, raw linen upholstery and matte black hardware. Lighting was designed to graze the timber grain at a low angle, drawing out its texture in the evenings.
The Outcome
An interior that earns unprompted admiration at every visit. The reclaimed elements are the clear hero, and the restrained palette ensures they will remain so as the timber weathers and deepens over time.
